ALBANY SCHOOL BOARD MINUTES 02-09-16

 

PRESENT: Board Members Joe Ferris, Sara Young-Knox and Lisa Lynde.  Also present were Jim Hill, Kevin Richard, and two members of the public.  The meeting was held in the Albany Town Hall.

Chair Ferris called the meeting to order at 5:32 p.m.

PUBLIC HEARING on 2016-17 Proposed Budget – Kevin reviewed the proposed budget of $1,595,740 as well as the warrant articles and answered questions. He also reviewed components of the tuition contracts, including average daily membership and equalized value.  Steve Knox posed a question regarding National Forest funds and how that was determined.  Kevin will get an answer to that question.  The hearing closed at 5:52 p.m.

(2)     Approval of Minutes (1-12-16)Sara Young-Knox moved to approve the minutes of January 12, 2016. The motion was seconded by Lisa Lynde and passed 3-0-0.

Signing of Manifest – The manifest was signed as presented.

Business Affairs

Attendance at Meetings – Joe (3), Sara (3) and Lisa (1).

Signing of Warrant and Budget Forms – The forms were signed as presented.

Superintendent’s Report
The SAU Board will meet on February 11th at 6:00 p.m. in the Library at Kennett Middle School.

Kevin informed the Board that Conway has an article on their warrant for a $1.7 million, 20-year bond for heating and electrical upgrades to the John Fuller School.

Kevin noted that Homeland Security has been visiting the schools in SAU #9.

Any Other Business

Set Date for Next Meeting – The next meeting will be held on April 12th at 5:30 p.m. at the Albany Town Hall. The annual school district meeting is on March 8th at 7:00 p.m.

 Public Comments – Steve Knox asked if there has been any conversation about a three town coop with Albany, Eaton and Conway.

 (9)     Nonpublic SessionSara Young-Knox moved to enter into Nonpublic Session in accordance with RSA 91-A:3 II. The motion was seconded by Lisa Lynda and passed 3-0-0 at 6:01 p.m.
Nonpublic Session Minutes – Jim Hill discussed contract negotiations for transportation.

 (10)   Joe Ferris moved to return to public session and adjourn the meeting. The motion was seconded by Sara Young-Knox and passed 3-0-0 at 6:14 p.m.
