June 10, 2016

At the selectmen’s Wednesday meeting the board signed a one year contract extension with Conway Village Fire District. The contract extension keeps the town’s rate at $105,000 for 2017. The board also signed two “intent to cuts”; one for a parcel on Drake Hill Road and the other for Pasaconaway Road.

Jason Call, Albany’s assessor, was in to go over last year’s statistical update. He explained that the state no longer performs these updates every ten years. (His father was actually one of those who did it). Now the state oversees the assessor’s work and practices. Jason reported that there are now more than 950 parcels in Albany, an addition of over 100 due to creating individual tax cards for permanent camps/trailers at Pine Knoll Campgrounds. The selectmen have asked Jason to get the assessed value report submitted as early as possible as they foresee a cash flow shortage in late summer.  Jason agreed to do his best to accommodate.

There will be another Hazard Mitigation Plan Update meeting Wednesday, June 15 at 6 p.m. at town hall. All residents are encouraged to join the meeting.

The Planning Board is still one person short. Please contact the selectmen’s office (447-6038) if you are interested in sitting as a member.

All three selectmen have been and are continuing to take advantage of municipal education classes. They report that most of the classes are informative and helpful to them in ensuring Albany is in compliance with New Hampshire laws.

Selectman Cathy Ryan reported that the town does have a Deputy Treasurer, Nancy Holmes, who assists Mary Leavitt.

Nancy Holmes’ parents visited Nancy and Roger last weekend. Roger is recovering from an accident he sustained at work that required an operation on his arm. Thankfully he is coming along well.

Nancy and Dana Rotman of Wallingford, Conn. were up at their cottage recently. They are planning to sell the cottage. Know anyone who’d be interested? After all Albany is a wonderful place to play.

What’s with this spring’s weather? Hot one day, warm another and downright chilly sometimes. Whatever the weather, get out and enjoy yourselves!
