June 24, 2016

At Wednesday’s meeting the selectmen reviewed the budget to date and found all was well. Discussion ensued regarding changing the tax billing to a semi-annual billing. Though the selectmen have the authority to change the billing, they do not want to do that without the consent of the legislative body (Albany’s taxpayers).  They will gather all the costs involved in making the change before they bring the change to the people. At the moment the Tans percentage is reasonable, so they are not proposing to make any changes.

Selectman Ferris reported that signs will have to be made to post all Class 6 roads in Albany.  He also told the other selectmen that two estimates to repair the doors in the large meeting room have come in.  Further estimates are being sought. The School Board is looking for a new member.

Selectman Hiland said the Planning Board dealt with boundary adjustment lines for the Hatch/Reardon properties at their last meeting. Trails are being extended on the Reardon portion. The Planning Board is still seeking one member and two alternatives.

(Please contact Kathy Vizard at the Selectmen’s office (447-6038) if you are willing to serve on either the Planning Board or the School Board.)

Selectman Ryan reported that Kim Guptil, a member of the Cemetery Committee, has a broken leg and was unable to attend their latest meeting.

Though the June 29 selectmen’s meeting would be the fifth meeting of the month, the selectmen have decided to meet non-the-less. The selectmen will hold a work session Friday, June 24 at 7 p.m. at town hall.
